Gotta say, I immediately became less happy. Don’t know if I’m about this life…

The Beatles owe soooooo much to teenage girls for their success like i’m pretty sure it was teenage girls who were screaming and fainting at shows and buying all those records and not old ponytailed dudes or moody teen boys with bad hair? and somehow everyone forgets that when they’re yelling about “real music” and putting down teen girls for the performers they get excited about. like whatever. I see you.

Who says #fashion is a female field? Committed to dressin fly every day. So far it hasn’t helped with my #productivity but I’m hoping that’s going to come lagging along like an #ookazakifragment

the-unpopular-opinions:

Pushing women into STEM fields is worse than useless.
Women earn ~55% of all STEM bachelor degrees -only place they’re noticably missing is engineering and computer sciences.
What women are doing with those degrees is the difference

They’re becoming teachers. And they own teaching as a field. It’s a complete uterus fest.
But for some reason, ‘teachers’ don’t count as ‘scientists’ in the eyes of who ever is in charge of the STEM acronym, as only highly technical jobs count. Not outreach or education.
Pushing women into the technical fields is going to take cience-degree’d teachers away from teaching.
Figure out what that’ll accomplish.

What is this? A table for ANTS!? It has to be at least…three times bigger.

On a dark day, I hate people. Sure, I love persons and humanity. I just hate that in-between thing you encounter on the internet and in the mass media.
Why? Self awareness. We live in a time where science has uncovered at least the Terms and Conditions, and maybe some 10% of the user manual to the Human Condition.
And it is the best 10%: the IKEA style guide to not being an idiot. The rest is medicine and specifications.
Self Awareness. RTFM! You are a human being, a human mind in a human brain. Your behaviour is a function of your brain, you are a system to be exploited by yourself. Learn truths, use them to get what you want.
Your mind is a tool, it is malleable and poorly made and you have to, have to, have to know about it’s flaws if you ever want to get anywhere.
Remember Steve Jobs? Smart man. He got the most survivable kind of pancreatic cancer and what did he do? Chemo? No. He went on an “special” diet.
If he had had an ounce of critical thinking, hell, if he had listened to Tim Minchin’s STORM and actually taken it to heart, we would still have a Steve Jobs.
I am angry at Steve for this. He threw his life away, because he was irrational.
Irrational behaviour is when you do things that bring you further from your goals, whatever they may be. Got cancer and want to survive? The rational thing is to shut up and listen to your Oncologist.
Rational actions bring you closer to your goal, whatever it may be. Want a sandwich? Don’t sit around on your arse, then! So much of what we do everyday is fairly rational. The small things, the common sensical stuff.
But when it comes to big things. Suddenly our brains fritz up. We get Reds and Greens and Blues, having shouting matches on public broadcasting, religious idiots accepting inconsistent scripture, scientist fanboys yelling at moderate believers for no good reason.
And on dark days, I hate them. On bright days I pity them and look upon the great work. We can’t make people smart, we can’t make people rational. We can make them less dumb. We can make them less irrational. We can raise the sanity waterline.
We can be less wrong.
There’s a web site of that name, if you are interested. But be ware: The rabbit-hole is deep, and what is learned cannot be unlearned. Are you sure you want to read the manual, as uncovered by science, of the human mind?

Your Fed-aura glows brightly today kind sir.
